TALKING TREADS

Sometimes I have to live with a textile and sometimes the textile sings to me before I begin a design. Often these antique fabrics dictate to me the type of garment they will become. Size color and texture have importance when planning a design but before making a commitment to cutting these cherished cloths there can also be an intangible, soulful if you will, sense of what will come to fruition from well loved pieces. My mission statement is to bring historical folk art out of the attics, closets and cedar chests to transform them into wearable garments so the original artwork can be seen anew and show out the  details and workmanship of the hours and hours spent by our talented ancestors.
